Children in the North of Gaza are unable to find the essential food items in the market that’s why they are facing severe food shortages and life threatening illness due to the actual lack of food and water. Over 90% of the population is facing crisis level of food insecurity. In new estimates released today, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) global partnership, which includes WHO, said Gaza is facing “catastrophic levels of food insecurity,” with the risk of famine “increasing each day.”
1.Scarcity Of Food :
According to WFP : “The scarcity of food in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the northern region, is a mounting concern as households’ food stocks are depleting more rapidly than they can be replenished through
humanitarian aid”.
“Currently, the Gaza Strip market faces a substantial shortage of essential food items, with 66 percent
of the shops reporting depletion of crucial goods over the past two weeks. Additionally, 29 percent of
the available goods are in short supply, lasting no more than a week. This emphasizes the pressing
need for the entry of commercial trucks into the Gaza Strip, as shops may be forced to completely
cease operations if the situation persists”.

2.A World Food Programme (WFP) report :
According to WFP : A World Food Programme (WFP) report found that the prices of essential items like cooking gas had surged by about 435% in the past three months. Food aid distributions continue to be largely limited to Rafah, with other areas rarely reached by humanitarian agencies.
There is a severe shortage of food, particularly in northern Gaza, which has been almost completely cut off from aid. Organizations providing food assistance have found that families’ food supplies are depleting more quickly than can be replenished through the trickle of aid allowed into Gaza. Two thirds of shops in Gaza have reported that essential goods have depleted in recent weeks, including flour, eggs, and dairy.
Riham Jafari, Coordinator of Advocacy and Communication for ActionAid Palestine, said:
“Nearly a month into the crisis, over half a million people are trapped northern Gaza who have barely survived the relentless bombing face death by starvation as food supplies run perilously low. Aid is still trickling into Gaza, but even the small amounts of food and water that make it over the border are barely able to be transported north, as roads have been destroyed in the near constant bombardment.
“Cases of dehydration and malnutrition are increasing rapidly. Hospitals, which have remained over capacity for weeks on end, can offer no solace to those on the brink of starvation as medical supplies run low, fuel is scarce, and bombs are indiscriminately dropped across Gaza including on the footsteps of hospitals.”
Hazem Saeed Al-Naizi, the director of an orphanage in Gaza City who fled south with the 40 people under his care Said :
“People are forced to cut down trees to get firewood for heating and preparing food. Smoke is everywhere and flies spread widely and transmit diseases,”
*Heba who is currently at a UN shelter in Gaza spoke about the severe shortage of food and the queues people across Gaza are facing outside of bakeries that have also been the targets of bombing:
“The situation in the Gaza Strip is very, very bad. People have been killed, may God have mercy on them, but the rest will die because of hunger. There is no food in the supermarket, no tinned food, no food. Regarding bread, we have to wait in line. We go at six in the morning and wait until the afternoon to get it. This is if you even manage to get some bread, of course. Apart from that, the water we drink is not suitable for human consumption.”
3.Increase risk of dying :
Due to all the causes children in the north of Gaza facing death . Their body gets dehydrated , they suffer from lots of mental and physical growth and loses the ability to make energy, put on weight, or maintain kidney and liver functions and so on.
In times of severe stress, pregnant women are more likely to miscarry or give birth prematurely, health workers previously told CNN . Gaza is home to 50,000 Pregnant women, according to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Babies who do survive in utero are more likely to be born underweight and are therefore at higher risk of dying, Inglis said. Starving and dehydrated mothers cannot provide enough breast milk for their babies.
According to UNFPA : is critically concerned for women and girls in Gaza, including the estimated 50,000 pregnant women – of whom 5,522 are expected to deliver in the next month; these women are cut off from safe delivery services as hospitals come under attack and the health system unravels, with life-saving medicines, fuel and electricity running out.
